嚴定暹老師在《孫子兵法現代應用》課程中，講過一個非常精髓的觀念：「先勝後戰」。孫子在《形篇》中說：「故善戰者，立於不敗之地，而不失敵之敗也。是故，勝兵先勝而後求戰，敗兵先戰而後求勝」。
一個善於用兵打仗的人，懂得先讓自己立於不敗之地，而後不放過敵人漏洞，取得最終勝利。所以一支能打贏的隊伍，要先做到主動防禦，取得不敗優勢後，再和敵人交戰。莽撞發動進攻，往往會吃敗仗。
